We Deserve Healthy Communities

Environmental Advocates NY is urging the New York State legislature to pass the Beauty Justice Act this session. With women using an average of 12, and men using an average of 6, personal care products every day, there is high reason for concern regarding what ingredients are used in our everyday beauty products. As the number of products used increases, the amount of chemicals applied to their bodies surge. Given that PFAS and other toxic chemicals are not advertised ingredients, finding and paying for toxin-free products can be time consuming and expensive. Furthermore, research has continuously shown that women of color are more likely to be exposed and impacted by beauty products’ harmful ingredients.

PFAS have been found in the blood of 98% of humans tested, and have long-term health impacts such as fertility issues, cancer and hormones. We must ban chemicals that are known to be dangerous from beauty products, such as PFAS, asbestos, benzophenones, phenylenediamines, triclosan, nitrosamine and known carcinogens, such as ethylene oxide, toluene, naphthalene, and more. Tell the New York state legislature that we need their help to ensure New Yorkers can use personal care products confidently and safely!
